Restoration and redevelopment

A project to restore the Scuola Grande della Misericordia to a use of space consistent with its nature.

The restoration project

The first restoration project was the initial attempt by the Public Administration to restore the Scuola Grande della Misericordia to a use of space consistent with its nature.

Today, thanks to Project Financing between the Municipality of Venice and the SMV company, the Misericordia is once again a machine at the service of the city, adapting its ancient function of hospitality to a modern context.

The new architectural project

The new architectural project aims to renew the building’s mystery and charm, enhancing what history has layered into the walls and decorations.

Restoration doesn’t propose, interpret, or resolve. It integrates and completes what already exists, simply by reactivating the original energy of renewal.

MISERICORDIA TODAY

Today, the Misericordia is an evolving project, sustainable for the city of Venice and for the current historical moment: it is a space where urban redevelopment, culture, and social aggregation converge.

A flexible and adaptable activity generator, oriented towards a single direction: promoting excellence, cultural exchange, and opportunities for meeting.
