“The Tourist” the new film starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, released yesterday in Italian cinemas, was mostly shot in Venice. And among the various locations, the Scuola Grande della Misericordia in Venice also played a prominent role.

The director’s goal was to find a prestigious place that would give life to an exclusive gala dance. The Scuola Grande della Misericordia, at that time in its restoration phase, thanks to its modern layout of the spaces, allowed the production to configure the scene according to its own preferences and needs, with a wide customization range. In fact, inside the ground floor, the movie production created complex scenographies: from the construction of a balcony to the placement of fake stucco on the walls.

The wide-ranging space and the geometries that characterize it have therefore welcomed troupes, protagonists, extras and orchestra for a unique event that every spectator would have liked to take part in.

In the following video, an interesting “behind the scenes” at the Misericordia in Venice.
